A Guide
CD and DVD duplication is a process in which already created images are burned directly on existing CDR and DVDR respectively using a duplicator. The process is easy, affordable on any budget and can be done by the individual or by seeking the services of a duplicating firm who offer varied services at affordable costs.
DVD and CD duplication can be done using the disk drives for computers; this is the cheapest and most available method and longer lasting although they may need extra space on the drive and extra internal connectors. External copiers that can be connected to the system through a USB or firewire cable can also function well for the process. Stand alone duplicators can also be used but are recommended for people who make frequent duplication. They are a bit expensive but are convenient as a plus.
The media on which you will record should be of high quality and compatible with the equipment you have. These aspects are very important for the success of the process. The CD and DVD should match the speed of the burner for good performance. They are available in different designs and prices but others are more efficient.
Select good CD burning software with a good combination of simplicity and functionality. Most come bundled with the computer while others are available separately. Select the one that is appropriate for your use and with capabilities that make it user friendly and easy to use. Installing the software is also an easy process that would take a few minutes.
To carry out this process, a master CD/DVD is first generated. The master should be made using high quality media to offer quality disc consistency. High quality master can be achieved by ensuring you first save the files to be burnt on the hard disk before burning and using burn methods that can enable the disc to be read in many CD-ROM drives. Less movement and impact on the drive during burning will reduce the chances of errors and bad discs.
Insert the master CD or DVD into the drive and on open your software and select copy disc. The software will copy the image on the disc and afterwards when it has finished it will prompt you to insert the blank CD you are to copy to. When the process is complete, the CD will automatically eject itself or you can do it on your own. For additional copies, most software has an option that allows you to copy additional CDS and DVDS without repeating the whole process.
While duplicating CDs it is recommended that the user should avoid opening many applications at once since it will hinder the process causing poor quality discs and also burn rejects. It is advisable to test CDS and DVDS after the process to confirm that they are working and also labeling them by use of markers or creating a customized CD/DVD labels. For laptops users, power consistency yields successful duplication thus it is important to ensure the laptop is not on low battery power.
